The Basic Ladder Drill

Then, reverse the pattern and step back to the beginning. This drill improves footwork and coordination.
The 1-2 Shuffle Drill
The 1-2 shuffle drill improves lateral movement and balance. Start by standing at the bottom of the ladder with your feet hip-width apart. Step laterally with your left foot into the first square, followed by your right foot. Then, shuffle laterally to the next square with your left foot, then bring your right foot to meet it. Repeat this pattern until you reach the end of the ladder. Then, reverse the pattern and move back to the beginning.
The In-Out Drill
The in-out drill improves quick footwork and balance. Begin by standing at the bottom of the ladder with your feet hip-width apart. Step your left foot into the first square, followed by your right foot. Then, step your left foot outside of the ladder to the left side of the first square, followed by your right foot. Hop onto your left foot into the first square, then hop back out onto your left foot. Hop into the second square, then hop back out onto your left foot. Repeat this pattern until you reach the end of the ladder. Then, switch to your right foot and repeat the pattern.
The T-Step Drill
The T-step drill improves lateral movement, footwork, and coordination. Begin by standing at the bottom of the ladder with your feet hip-width apart. Step laterally with your left foot into the first square, then cross your right foot behind your left foot and land in the second square. Step laterally to the third square with your left foot, then land in the fourth square with your right foot. Repeat this pattern until you reach the end of the ladder. Then, reverse the pattern and move back to the beginning.
